Fort Zumwalt North Athletics: Week in Review

Athletic Director Ted Hickey talks this week's sports and activities news at Fort Zumwalt North High School.

Varsity Football

The Panthers lost a tough battle to Wentzville Holt, falling 19 - 12. The defense was led by Kory Morton, who recorded 9 tackles and 6 assists, Luke Sammelman (8 tackles and 4 assists, and Killian Sneed (4 tackles adn 4 assists). Justin Fitzpatrick picked off two passes to help keep the score close. Offensivly, Zach Hilliard completed 11 of 22 passes for 141 yards and a TD. Colin Mueller had 3 catches for 33 yards and a touchdown reception. Deon Lewis had 5 catches for 75 yards, 9 rushes for 101 yards and 2 kick returns for 92 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers look to bounce back this Friday in their last conference game of the season, at home against the Washington Blue Jays.

Varsity Softball

The FZN Varsity Softball team captured the first ever GAC Central Championship last week by defeating conference foes Washingon and Fort Zumwalt East. The team also defeated non-conference opponent, Ritenour, to finish the week a perfect 3 - 0! Cross CountryMatt Buese medaled finishing 11th in the Tri-County Underclass Meet held at Washington High School.

Girls Tennis

This year the ladies tennis team won three matches at the league meet! Winners were: Connie Wang and Jordan Mackey @ #2 Doubles, Lilly Humphreys @ #6 Singles, and Emily Matthews @ #8 Singles. The team will compete at individual tennis districts on Thursday.

Marching Band

The Panther Pride Band placed 1st place in the finals at the Lafayette Contest of Champions! The Panther Pride also won captions for Outstanding Music and Effect. The band was tops out of 16 bands at the festival, placing ahead of Camdenton, Jeff City, and Howell North among others. So far this year, the band has competed against 30 schools and has yet to be beaten!
