FZN Softball

The Varsity Softball team captured their first district title in 23 years by sweeping all three of their district games played last week! On Wednesday - the team hit early and often, while Abby Hlavaty pitched a shutout in a 9 - 0 victory over Hannibal.
On Wednesday the team faced a familiar foe in the Holt Indians, who the Panthers defeated for the 3rd time this season by a 9 - 1 margin. The team was led by Hurler - Shelby Clark, who go the win thanks in part to some great defensive plays by Taylor Dames and Alyssa Felderwert. Kaitlyn Garza provided the big hit of the night by blasting a 4th inning grand slam! Abby Tillotson also went yard as she hit a solo shot of her own.
In the finals the Panthers faced the defending district champion from Troy. FZN was able to secure a 8 - 5 victory over the Trojans to claim their first district title since 1990. Shelby Clark earned the victory against a very talented Troy line-up. At the plate, Taylor Dames came up big for the Panthers with a 3rd inning line drive 3 run home run, while Abby Tillotson, Hannah Murphy, and Sara Langdon also had big days as the plate for the Panthers as each pounded out multiple hits.

The Panthers head to Marquette this Wednesday (10/16) to take on the Mustangs in the sectional playoff game. First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 pm.
