FZN Wrestlers finish 10th in State!

The FZN wrestling team enjoyed a strong finish to the 2013 - 2014 season by finishing 10th as a team in the Class 3 State Tournament held last week. It marks the 20th time the Panther grapplers have achieved such lofty status! The Panthers were led by Shaun Beeman (106) and Levi Kessles (170), who both finished with a 3rd place medal in their respective weight classes. Beeman's 3rd place finish is an improvement over last season's 4th place finish. He finished the season with an impressive 44 - 3 overall record. Kessels, a first year varsity wrestler with no prior wrestling experience before entering high school, set a new school record for falls as all of his 31 victories during the season were achieved by fall. Kessles finished the season with a 31 - 6 win/loss record.

Five other Panther grapplers participated in the State meet. These included - Austin Graeler (126), Trenton Jaco (132), Luke Sammelman (152), Mason Seeger (220), and Josh Stockton (285). Jaco narrowly missed placing as he was defeated in the proverbial "bubble" match falling just one match shy of "All-State" status.

The Panther will return all by two starters, including both Beeman and Kessles, as they look ahead to a potentially big 2014 - 2015 season
