Winter Sports Update

Girls Basketball

Heading into the second half of the season the Girls team currently sports a 4 - 5 record. The team has been led by the stellar play of Freshmen - Rachel Pudlowski, who is averaging an impressive 14.6 points per game. The recent return of Senior - Abby Haler has provided a boost for the team. Abby is averaging 10.7 points per game.

The team returns to action this Tuesday (1/7) at home against Francis Howell North - Tipoff is scheduled at 6:30 pm. The team will then travel to Fort Zumwalt East on Friday (1/10) to round out the week. The game at FZE is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm. 

Boys Basketball

The Boys team completed a brutal early season schedule with a 4 - 3 mark. All of the losses have occurred to out-of-state teams. Leading the way for the Panthers are the Glotta brothers, Zach and Chaz, who are both averaging around 20 points per game.

The boys are slated to play three games this week. Tuesday (1/7) they travel to Fort Zumwalt West for a 6:30 pm game, before playing in a couple shoot-outs on Thursday and Saturday. On Thursday(1/9) the boys will play in the Coaches vs. Cancer Shoot-Out held at the Scottrade Center. The Panthers will match-up with Althoff (IL) Catholic with tip-off scheduled at 6:30 pm. The team will complete the week by traveling to Highland (IL) for a match-up with highly regarded Gleenwood (IL) in the Highland Optimist Shoot-Out in a game scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.

Wrestling

The wrestling team has swept through the early part of their schedule with an impressive 7 - 0 (2 - 0 Conference) dual meet record. The FZN Grapplers have notched victories in the FZN Invitational and SCW Quad, while finishing a close second in the Fort Zumwalt East Christmas Tournament.  The team has been led by state-ranked Shaun Beeman (#2 - 106 lbs), Trenton Jaco (#8 - 132 lbs), Luke Sammelman (#8 - 152 lbs), and Levi Kessels (#6 - 170 lbs).

The Panthers return to the mat this Wednesday (1/8) as they travel to Westminster Christian for a double-dual with Westminster and Chaminade that is slated to begin at 6:00 pm. The team will also compete in the always rugged GAC Conference Tournament held on the campus of Fort Zumwalt North this Friday (1/10) and Saturday (1/11) - GAC Wrestling action begins at 5:00 pm on Friday night and 9:30 am Saturday morning.
