Steak N Shake: Cudos to First Responders

So we had just sat down at the Steak N Shake at the intersection of Highway K and Highway N this evening.  We had placed our order we heard the commotion.

One of the employees was having a seizure.  My wife dialed 911 and handed me the phone.  She jumped-up and ran over to help.

911 was awesome and instantly connected us to ambulance workers who began to ask all sorts of questions over the cell phone.

Since I was standing out of the way and my wife was much closer, I handed her the phone and backed away again.

The ambulance drivers were asking all sorts of questions to my wife like, "Does she have diabetes?  Has she had these seizures before"... and my wife was repeating them to the manager of the Steak N Shake and also to the police offers kneeling over the girl.

Now comes the part that pisses me off.

While my wife was asking these questions, some fat-ass lady, who was blocking my wife's view turned and said to my wife, "We don't know because none of her relatives are here."

My wife, still holding her cell-phone to her ear said, "Look, I'm talking to the ambulance driver right now and these are the things they want to know."  My wife had a look on her face that could have stopped a speeding train.

This lady, who was not a nurse or an employee of Steak N Shake walked away, took her son by the hand and huffed out of the restaurant.  She appeared more insulted than concerned about the person lying on the floor.

Why does this part piss me off?  Because she should have minded her own F*****G business and stopped getting in the way.  If you can't be part of the solution, get out of the way or you'll become part of the problem.

Luckily, there was a nurse eating there and when she heard an employee scream, "Put her on her back!", she got up, ran over and commanded, "DON'T PUT HER ON HER BACK!"  Thank you for being alert and coming to help.  Everyone appreciated that.

Kudos to the O'Fallon Police and the Ambulances that acted so quickly and efficiently.  You did a fantastic job.
