Fort Zumwalt South Seniors Honored for 'Academic Decathlon'

Christopher Walsh and Kyle Krull, both seniors at Fort Zumwalt South High School, were selected as honorable mentions in the 2013 Missouri Scholars 100.

Fort Zumwalt South High Principal Kevin Keltner announced that two of the school's seniors, Kyle Kruss and Christopher Walsh, have been honored in the 2013 Missouri Scholars 100, a program sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. Both Keltner and Walsh were given "honorable mention" status in the program, which honors 100 of Missouri's top academic students in the Class of 2013. Candidates are nominated from across the state, based on a formula that uses the student's grade-point average and ACT or SAT score. Ten events—an "academic decathlon"—then measure the student's academic strength. Track Monday's School Closings in St. Charles County

Patch is partnering with Fox2 to bring you a list of school closings for March 25 after a major winter storm rolled through the area Sunday.

March's surprise snow storm hit on Sunday morning. The relentless snow wouldn't stop falling and now many studetns (and teachers, too) are left wondering if school be called off for Monday. Lindenwood, SCC to Open Nursing and Allied Health School

Colleges partner to open a Center for Nursing and Allied Health Sciences at the former Barat Academy building in Dardenne Prairie. Lindenwood will offer an RN to BSN completion degree starting in the fall.

Students seeking to complete their Bachelors of Science in nursing degree will have another option for school in St. Charles County starting this August.  Lindenwood University and St. Charles Community College have partnered to open a Center for Nursing and Allied Health Sciences at the former Barat Academy Building in Dardenne Prairie.  Lindenwood University will offer an RN (Registered Nurse) to BSN (Bachelors of Science in Nursing) degree program at the Center.   Students enrolled in the Associates Degree in Nursing program at St. Charles Community College will be able to apply for early admission to Lindenwood University and take a few bachelors degree courses before officially getting their license. Donkey Basketball Pits Zumwalt North Against Zumwalt South

The game was a fundraisers for the schools' TSA clubs.

From the first buzzer of Friday night's donkey basketball game at Fort Zumwalt North High School, it was apparent that the real athletes were the four-legged ones This was the 12th year for the Donkey Basketball fundraiser at North High. The event raised money for the Technical Students Association for both North High and South High, chapter advisor Thad Chance told Patch. The clubs will use the money for registration, travel and hotel for the TSA's national conference in Orlando, Florida. The first game pitted North High seniors against North High faculty. The faculty's unequaled equestrian skilled earned them a 10-4 win over the students. In the second game, South High seniors played South High faculty. The winners of each game met for …

Liberty High School Construction Progressing Well Despite Weather

The new Wentzville School District high school on Sommers Road in O'Fallon is slated to open in the fall.

Liberty High School, the third high school in the Wentzville School District currently under construction on Sommers Road in O'Fallon, is progressing well despite recent weather issues. Bruce Dell, of Hoener Associates, Inc., presented a construction update to the school board at the Feb. 25 meeting. Despite the inclement weather, the 100 hall is "essentially complete," and work is progressing on interior finishes. Exterior brick has been installed and cleaned, and windows installed, Dell said. A future stairway and landing have a partial steel structure, as do the 300 and 400 halls. Electrical work is progressing on the 500 hall music rooms and media center. Dell said that there should be no problems in making the completion date for …
