Public Works manages the city streets, water, sewer, storm water, environmental services, project management and snow removal. The commission consists of 10 members appointed by the mayor with consent of the city council and non-voting members including city council members, the city engineer, senior project manager and the managing director of water, sewer and storm water.

The complex is also home to the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood convent and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city council meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month, with a workshop at 5:30pm and a meeting at 7:30pm. All meetings are streamed online at the city's website.
