O'Fallon Photographer Exhibits Work at Renaud Sprirt Center

Christy Martin's artistic photography work will be on display until Dec. 30.

Christy Martin remembers riding around in the back seat of her parents’ car as a child and looking out the windows. She said she would see something interesting and think, “That would make a good picture.” “That’s just how I’ve always thought,” Martin said. “As I get older, that has intensified and there are times that I see pictures everywhere.” Martin, an O’Fallon resident, artist and photographer, currently has her work on display at the O’Fallon Cultural Arts Center Gallery at the Renaud Spirit Center (RSC). The exhibit launched on Nov. 4 and will end Dec. 30. Martin said that art enthusiasts can expect variety from her exhibit. Besso Brings Portraits to Cultural Arts Gallery

Greta Garbo, Mick Jagger, Natalie Wood and Batman can be found hanging out these days at the Renaud Spirit Center. Paintings featuring these pop culture icons are part of the latest art exhibit now on display in O'Fallon's Cultural Arts Gallery inside the Spirit Center, 2650 Tri Sports Circle. Fifteen paintings by St. Charles artist Michele Besso will be featured through May 27. "Since I was a kid I've been into drawing. I've always loved it and just kept at it," Besso said. The artist grew up in New Jersey and won an art award while in school. She credits her high school teacher, Joan Ditiera, as being one of the most influential people in her life. Arts Council Features Student Gallery

Growing up, you might have had your favorite doodles stuck to the refrigerator. If you were lucky, your art teacher might have selected some of your in-class work to display on the hallway walls for all to see between classes. Timberland High School upped the ante for its students  on January 13,  offering a reception for friends, family and art lovers in general at the St. Charles County Arts Council, 7445 Village Center Drive in O'Fallon. The walls of the Lillian Yahn Gallery were covered with pastels and paints, sketches of still-lifes, and plenty of portraits. Local Artist's Group Has Works on Display Inside O'Fallon's Renaud Spirit Center

The Oak Leaf Artist Guild, an organization open to all artists, has an exhibit called "Winter Show" on display through Feb. 18.

The Oak Leaf Artist Guild has an exhibit called “Winter Show” currently on display at O’Fallon’s Cultural Arts Center Gallery in the Renaud Spirit Center recreation complex. The exhibit has a variety of mediums on display, gallery admission is free, and the exhibit will be available for viewing through Friday, Feb.18.  “There is art in the mediums of oil paintings, acrylics and watercolors in the exhibit,” said Annette McGarrahan, Guild member and public relations specialist for the group.
