A St. Charles County Sheriff's deputy said Mathew Charleville kicked him and tried to bite a second deputy while he was handcuffed in a patrol car.
A St. Charles County man is accused of kicking and trying to bite Sheriff’s deputies who arrested him on an outstanding warrant. Mathew Charleville, 25, of the 100 block of Pinto Circle near Dardenne Prairie, was charged April 4 with two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer. A St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy said he had arrested Charleville on a warrant for a probation violation, handcuffed him and put in the back of the patrol vehicle. The deputy said that as he talked to another person, Charleville began banging his head on the Plexiglass partition inside the patrol car. A man accused of twice violating a protection order also faces criminal charges for stealing two bottles of liquor and throwing them at a police officer who pursued him, police said. He stole the liquor bottles from the O’Fallon Walmart and threw them at the officer on the same day he violated the protection order, according to court documents. Chad McCormick, 39, was charged Jan. 4 with two counts of violating an order of protection, once on Aug. 31 and again on Sept. 26. McCormick also was charged Feb 7 with misdemeanor theft, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest on Sept. 26. A man faces criminal charges after he struck a law enforcement officer during a foot chase in O’Fallon Aug. 24. Brandon D. Brown Jr, 20, of the first block of Newberry Drive in St. Charles County south of St. Peters, was charged Aug. 28 with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. A St. Charles County Sheriff's deputy said in a report that he was chasing Brown on foot near 955 Bryan Road in O’Fallon because Brown had a warrant for his arrest. During the chase, Brown turned and struck the deputy in the chest. The blow caused the deputy to lose his balance, fall and strike his knee on the asphalt, and he nearly was struck by oncoming traffic, the deputy reported.
