The shop opened in O’Fallon in March 2012 and owners Mary and Tina are gearing up for the holiday season with plenty of special menu items.
As customers walk into Mary’s Morsels, they are greeted by Mary Reynold’s herself. Dressed in her apron and matching bandana, she says good morning to each customer and takes their drink orders. The bakery and café, located at 107 O’Fallon Plaza, opened in O’Fallon in March 2012. They serve a full breakfast and lunch menu. You could say Mary’s Morsels got its beginning’s years ago in the Reynold’s kitchen. That’s where she discovered her love and talent for baking when her children were young. Back then she was a stay at home mom who made Christmas baking trays for family and friends. “For years, everybody was telling me, ‘you need to do this for a living,’” she said. Susie G's Specialty Cakes owner Susie G. said baking has been a life-long passion for her, thanks in part to her father.
Susie Gentemann could be called a baking legacy. She said she has been in the bakery business all her life. Her father, Ernie Zimmermann, who owned Cottage Bakery in St. Charles and Dutch Mill Pastry Shop in South St. Louis, taught her to bake and decorate pastries. In 2000, Gentemann opened her own bakery, Susie G’s Specialty Cakes, with her father’s help. A Family Affair “I love decorating cakes and it just seemed like the right time,” Gentemann said. “I grew up in bakeries, so I knew I would have support from my family.” She said that the bakery is a “family-run cake shop that specializes in drawings.” She works there with several family members, including her daughter, who manages the bakery and her brother, who does much of the baking…

Pioneered by the retailer in 2008, the idea involves a more extensive grocery selection that features exclusive Target brands. “Target’s new expanded food layout was created in response to research and feedback from guests who requested more fresh food selection in the convenience of their local Target store,” states a news release from the …

Baby Cakes bakery moved to storefront location in December.
Kelly Haggerty isn’t shy in expressing how she feels about the small pink cupcake in her hand. “It’s absolutely delicious,” said the O’Fallon resident, eyeing the delectable strawberry-flavored treat. She doesn’t have to taste it to know, either. Haggerty has been a loyal customer at this establishment since before the enterprise was even housed at 107 O’Fallon Plaza. The little bakery has been supplying cupcakes to a wide range of events, from Haggerty’s dinner parties to her sister’s wedding, going back about a year. For Jaclyn Perkins, it’s all in a day’s work. “Pretty much any event you have, we can customize it to the theme, the color or the shape you want it to be,” she said. Perkins and her husband run Baby Cakes, a cupcake-centered…
