A new Mexican restaurant in under construction in O'Fallon. The old Cappucino's location at 840 Bryan Road will soon reopen as Señora Espiño's Taqueria. The owners of the original Espino's location inChesterfield are branching out to St. Charles County with the new location. The O'Fallon location will feature a drive-thru and a bar. It will offer breakfast seven days a week, lunch, dinner and appetizers including, soups, salads, entrées and desserts. Earlier this week, crews worked to prepare the interior of the restaurant and a new Espiño's sign was displayed outside. O'Fallon will cough up more than $2 million to help fund the final phase of the Route 364 extension project on the condition that officials build interchanges along the highway at Highway K and Bryan Road.
The City of O'Fallon has agreed to put up $2.25 million to help cover additional costs for extending Route 364, based on the state committing to build interchanges or bridges at Highway K and Bryan Road, the Suburban Journals reports. Route 364—or the Page Avenue extension—now connects Maryland Heights to St. Charles County but will ultimately offer motorists an alternate route from Interstate 270 in Maryland Heights to Highway 40 near O'Fallon. According to the report, Steve Bender, O'Fallon's public works director, said it is not certain enough money would be available for interchanges at Highway K and Bryan Road. Robert Staufenbiel was in his semi-truck on I-70 when a utility truck, salting the highway, failed to notice the stopped semi and hit the towed unit of the truck. Staufenbiel was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
A 51-year-old St. Peters man was seriously injured in a car accident along Interstate 70 Monday morning. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol website, Robert Staufenbiel in his 2002 International 4900 semi-truck on I-70, near the Bryan Road exit in O'Fallon, when a utility truck salting the highway failed to notice the stopped semi and hit the towed unit of the semi. Staufenbiel was taken to St. Joseph East Hospital by St. Charles County ambulance. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

O'Fallon Police are searching for a man who robbed the Conoco gas station on Bryan Road at midnight on Friday. According to police, the suspect went into the business located at 1060 Bryan Rd. and displayed a handgun, demanding money. Police say the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and no one was injured. An extensive search of the area failed to locate the suspect. According to police, the suspect was described as a tall, very thin white man, 6’ to 6’ 2”, 150-170 lbs wearing a flannel plaid jacket with a gray hood, blue jeans, glasses and black and white tennis shoes. O’Fallon Fire Protection District Firefighter Todd Yeager was off-duty when he helped a man who was shot on Bryan Road in May.
One of O'Fallon's own local heroes was recently recognized for his bravery. O’Fallon Fire Protection District Firefighter Todd Yeager was running errands with his family earlier this summer. When they were stopped in traffic on Bryan Road, Yeager heard a gunshot and a saw a man fall to the ground. Todd told his wife, Suzanne, to drive their children away from the area so they would be safe, but he remained and provided emergency aid to the man, who was the victim of a road rage incident. Yeager was recently honored at the fifth annual St. Louis Firefighters Ball, where he and his wife were asked to sit at the Backstoppers “Table of Honor." Later this year, Yeager will be presented a Class III Medal of Valor from the St. Louis County …

Cappuccino's Restaurant is heading to a new location near Walmart on Highway K at the end of June. The cafe, now at 840 Bryan Rd., is relocating to 1365 Highway K, formerly the Royal Kitchen Sushi Grill and Buffet. A sign inside the restaurant indicates the new location will be much larger. The exact date is still to be determined. A sign on the door of the Bryan Road location reads: "Our new place will offer our same great food and drink plus more. We hope to see all of you there. Over the weekend, police patrolled O'Fallon roads for impaired drivers.
Eleven people were arrested for driving while intoxicated over the past weekend in O'Fallon. O’Fallon Police partnered with the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department to conduct a DWI Checkpoint on the southbound lanes of Bryan Road near White Magnolia Drive from 10:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. on Friday Sept. 16. A total of 680 vehicles were checked during detail. Police say the goal of the checkpoint was remove impaired drivers from area roads and educate motorists on the dangers of driving impaired. Funding for this effort was provided through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division. Information provided by the O'Fallon Police Department.

Jeffrey Roberts, 42, of O'Fallon was driving northbound on Bryan Road in a 1992 Chevy truck, when the vehicle crossed over the center line and collided with a 2011 Honda minivan, police said. Police said Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene. Amy Lathrop, 37, of O'Fallon, who was driving the minivan, was taken to a St. Louis area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
