Firehouse Subs Donates Nearly $20K in Equipment to O'Fallon Fire District

Helmets and a thermal-imaging camera valued at $17,800 were given to the O'Fallon Fire Protection District.

The O'Fallon Fire Protection District accepted a donation of some much-needed equipment Wednesday at the Firehouse Subs restaurant off Highway K. Firehouse Subs franchisee Brian Collins and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation development manager Meghan Bender made the presentation of the donation of 30 structural firefighters' helmets and a thermal imaging camera. The donation equaled more than $17,800. The camera will detect body heat and hot spots in burning buildings and allows firefighters to reach victims quicker and put out deadly fires. Firehouse Subs is now hiring for the soon-to-open O'Fallon location.  The shop is under construction at 104 Laura K Dr., O'Fallon, near Starbucks and the Pediatric Urgent Care. Jon Collins, who owns the shop with his brother, said he expects to open in late November. This is the first Firehouse Subs to open in St. Charles County.  According to Craigslist, the shop is now hiring and "looking for smiling faces, outgoing personality's, highly motivated individuals that have a true passion for people." A new sandwich shop will soon open its doors in O'Fallon.  Firehouse Subs is under construction at 104 Laura K Dr., O'Fallon, near Starbucks and the Pediatric Urgent Care. Jon Collins, of Labadie, MO, owns the shop. He was unavailable for comment this week, but his business partner and brother Brian Collins said he expects to open in late November.
