An extra police presence is at the school today after last night's threat.
Assumption School in O'Fallon is closed today after a threat was made against the school via social media. Fox2 News reported this morning that a bomb threat was made over Instagram late Thursday involving three area schools, Assumption in O'Fallon and Immaculate Conception in Dardenne Prairie and Fort Zumwalt West Middle School. Assumption and Immaclate Conception have closed for the day. Fort Zumwalt West Middle School, however, is open today, but extra police are at the school and extra precautions are being taken after police investigated the threat overnight and determined that it was not credible. O'Fallon Police said all five subjects were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Five people were injured in a car accident at Highway K and Waterford on Monday morning. O'Fallon Police said they received a call at 7:14 a.m. and four cars were involved. According to police, five people were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Highway K was shut down for a few hours, causing traffic delayed school buses entering Fort Zumwalt West Middle School. According to the O'Fallon Police Department Facebook page, some residents said traffic was backed up all the way to Dardenne Prairie.

Matt Hansen, 38, Winfield, goes to trial on March 12.
A former Fort Zumwalt West Middle School teacher who was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and allegedly taping students undressing at camp is now facing federal charges, according to STLtoday.com. Matt Hansen, 39, Winfield, taught seventh grade math in the district since 2004, and was placed on administrative leave in 2012. According to STLtoday.com, Hansen was indicted in federal court on Thursday "on eight counts of attempted production of child pornography and one count of possession of child porn." In June, Matt Hansen, 38, of Lincoln County, was found in possession of child porn on his home computer. According to Superintendent Dr. Bernard DuBray, police say Hansen did not share the videos he took of campers in the shower.

O'Fallon Patch features local kids doing great things.
The Fort Zumwalt West eighth grade Jaguar Cheerleaders decided to give back this holiday season, by shopping for a family in need. The squad picked out clothing and a fun item to purchase and deliver to the St Charles Crisis Center on Monday, Dec. 12. The Crisis Center staff gave the girls a tour and the girls had the opportunity to meet a few children and perform some Christine Anderson is a team mom who nominated the squad for O'Fallon Patch's Whiz Kids. She said the cheerleaders won’t get to meet the family they adopted, but are thankful they were able to help out in their community. Lisa - My children go to ICD, so yes, close to home. I know a little bit more about it in that it was a student's social media that was hacked and these messages were put on. I know that it was reported by a parent of a student at ICD. These messages continued into this morning when a screen shot of old WWII artillery were posted.
