O'Fallon Announces 2012 Parade Winners

This year's Heritage and Freedom Fest parade theme was “Salute Our American Heritage.”

O'Fallon's Heritage and Freedom Fest Parade kicked off the city's Independence Day festivities early Wednesday, July 4. Clubs, civic organizations, bands, churches, scouts and businesses lined the street to show off their American pride. Awards were presented for participants in the categories of the “Mayor’s Choice” award and “Best Overall” category and were judged on how well an entry expresses the parade theme: “Salute Our American Heritage.” Prizes of $500, $400 and $300 were awarded to the top three Best Overall. In addition, prizes of $200 for first place and $100 for second place were presented to the “Best Musical Float” and “Most Patriotic Float." The annual Heritage and Freedom Fest parade drew a large crowd despite the heat on Wednesday morning.

A large crowd lined the streets on the south side of O'Fallon on Fourth of July for the annual Heritage and Freedom Fest Parade. The two-mile route featured nearly 100 participants decked out in red, white and blue to celebrate their American heritage on Wednesday morning.
