Donate to O'Fallon Giving Tree, Cornucopia of Care

Both the clothing and food drive run until Dec. 15.

The City of O'Fallon is hosting two holiday drives to help families in need this holiday season.  The annual "Giving Tree" drive runs from now until Dec. 15. Residents are invited to bring new winter hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and socks to decorate the tree in the lobby of City Hall. The items will be donated to the Salvation Army. O'Fallon residents can also give back this holiday season by donating to the annual "Cornucopia of Care" food drive. The drive began Monday, Nov. 5, and continues through Saturday, Dec. 15. Non-perishable canned or boxed food and personal care items are needed. Click here for more information.  Items may be dropped off at the following sites: Donations also are welcome at the following events:

O'Fallon Kicks Off Holiday Season With Tree Lighting, Food Drive and Giving Tree

The 13th annual event was held on Wednesday night at O'Fallon City Hall.

The City of O'Fallon officially kicked off the holiday season with the 13th annual Tree Lighting ceremony on Wednesday.  Residents filled City Hall from 6-8 p.m. to sing Christmas songs, make crafts, visit with Santa and join in the countdown to the annual lighting of the tree in the City Hall Rotunda. The City of O'Fallon also began the annual "Giving Tree" drive, which runs from now until Dec. 15. Fort Zumwalt Students, Staff Lend Helping Hands For the Holidays

Check out how students of all ages are giving back through holiday collections and drives sponsored by their schools.

See how students and staff in the Fort Zumwalt School District are giving back this holiday season.  Dardenne Elementary’s faculty staff and students are participating in a giving tree program. The donations are going to St. Joaquim and Ann Church as part of their adopt a family program. This collections ends on Dec. 8.  Ostmann Elementary's student council ran a canned food drive in November and collected over 2,400 non-perishable goods to donate to HOPE Ministries in time for Thanksgiving.  "We have done these things every holiday season since we opened our school in 2002.  It helps our students to really internalize the true meaning of altruism, responsibility and act of giving by actually 'doing,'" said Dr. Gregg S. Emge Elementary School is also participating in a toy drive and mitten tree for the Salvation Army. Principal Alex Tripamer said students have generously donated hundreds of toys and lots of mittens, scarves and hats for others. This is the 10th year Emge has conducted this drive Principal Tripamer said it grows bigger and better each year.   more ›
