O'Fallon Plans Grand Opening For New Westhoff Skate Park in November
The park is located in Westhoff Park at the entrance near T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Cool Springs Industrial Drive.
Local skaters and bikers will have a new place to ride in O'Fallon next week. A skate park under construction in Westhoff Park at the entrance near T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Cool Springs Industrial Drive will open to the public next Saturday. The Westhoff Plaza park is made of concrete and measure around 10,600 square feet in size, with street and bowl skateboarding features. The City of O’Fallon’s grand opening for the park is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will feature: O'Fallon City Council approved the $399,176.46 construction contract with Hardcore Shotcrete Skateparks at the July 12 meeting and construction began in August. Sam's Club is holding a Grand Opening on Tuesday in Wentzville, but they're inviting Patch readers to a special "soft opening" event tonight, Monday, Oct. 29. Tonight from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Patch readers can shop, sample foods and be the first people to see the new Sam's, located at 3055 Bear Creek Drive at Wentzville. Anyone who purchases a new Sam's membership at tonight's preview event will receive a $20 gift certificate for free. The shop is located on the south side of town at 3449 Pheasant Meadow Dr. Owner Joe Brunette, of O’Fallon, said Jo-Jo’z will offer more than 40 flavors, featuring seven machines with 14 flavors at a time. Much like Orange Leaf, the new shop offers a self-serve frozen yogurt and numerous toppings to choose from, including fruits, nuts and candy. The unique new shop, located at 991 Waterbury Falls Dr., began construction in May. Co-owners Kathy Machisen and Rebecca Riegerix describe the shop as a new concept for retail. They rent smaller spaces, including shelves and large cubbies for other businesses and entrepreneurs to set up shop and sell their products. The shop is designed to sell merchandise from new start-ups, expanding, downsizing or online businesses. It also serves as a place to test new products and help the “mini-preneuer” get started. O'Fallon's all-inclusive playground is set to open in less than two weeks. Brendan’s Playground in Westhoff Park is a special park designed so children with and without disabilities can play together in a safe and fun environment. Families are welcome to bring the kids to the city's grand opening celebration for Brendan’s Playground on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Westhoff Park. The ceremony will also offer refreshments, characters to entertain the kids, a band, and the music of students from J.L. Mudd Elementary School and Westhoff Elementary School General parking for the ceremony will be available in Westhoff Park on the park’s west side.
