Outsmart the Grinch: Avoiding Holiday Scams Is Part of the Festive Season

The St. Louis Better Business Bureau gives tips on how to avoid being duped by con artists and other seasonal Grinches in Maryland Heights and nearby communities.

Shoppers are not the only busy folks during the holiday season. The season to be jolly and joyous also is the season for scammers, warn St. Louis Better Business Bureau officials. Here are five common scams to watch out for throughout December: 1.    Online shopping scams When a website offers big ticket items or electronics at prices that are too good to be true (a $20 iPhone 2, really?) be suspicious. Santa Comes to O'Fallon This Weekend

Sign up for City of O'Fallon events by Wednesday.

Santa Claus is coming to town and there's still time to sign your child up to meet him.  Both the City of O'Fallon and the O'Fallon Fire Protection District host events this weekend that will allow kids to interact with jolly old St. Nick.

Poll: When Do You Do Your Holiday Shopping?

With a little over two weeks left until Christmas, Patch asks O'Fallon residents when they do their holiday shopping.

Some people rushed out on Black Friday for great deals on gifts for family and friends, while others wait until the last minute to place presents under the tree. When do you usually finish your holiday shopping?

Local Troops Receive Holiday Surprise Overseas

Gifts collected from a St. Louis-area Support Our Troops Drive brought smiles to the faces of soldiers of the Missouri Army National Guard's 3175th Chemical Company.

Presents came early this holiday season for a group of soldiers stationed overseas thanks to Kirkwood's Majic Market and a St. Louis-area non-profit. The deli and convenience store served as a drop-off location for a Support Our Troops drive for the men and women of the Missouri Army National Guard's 3175th Chemical Company based at Jefferson Barracks. The drive was headed by All About Paws Rescue. (See: Kirkwood Market Sends 'Majic' Overseas) Members of the company, who are stationed in Qatar as part of a year-long base security mission, recently received gifts from the drive and a reminder of how they are supported back home. Click the video to watch their reaction as they unwrap the holiday goodies. Like Majic Market and All About Paws …
