After an O'Fallon family managed to escape their home that caught fire on Monday night, local paramedics rescued two of their pets that were left behind. According to a news release from the St. Charles County Ambulance District, a home in the 700 block of Red Hawk Drive in O'Fallon went up in flames at 8:30 p.m. on Monday night. O'Fallon and Wentzville firefighters extinguished the fire, which started in the basement of the home. Martin Limpert a spokesman for the ambulance district, said that fortunately, all three residents were able to escape unharmed and take one of their dogs with them. Scott Avery, public information officer for the O'Fallon Fire Protection District, said the fire was reported around 9:43 a.m. He said the blaze caused extensive damage and the home is a total loss. Nearly 23 firefighters from O'Fallon, Central County Fire and Rescue and Cottleville arrived on the scene. Avery said it took an hour and 10 minutes to extinguish the flames. I also appreciate all the effort the Fire Fighters and Animal Emergency did in trying to save Huey. Huey was a Beautiful Cat that My Sister Sherri had Rescued from the Animal Shelter and will be Deeply missed by Kenny, Drew and Sherri. I am so sorry Huey did not make it.
