The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on St. Louis work zones for September 20-26
Westbound Interstate 64 in downtown St. Louis will be closed from the Poplar Street bridge to 21st Street starting at 6 p.m. Friday and reopen by 3 a.m. Monday. One eastbound lane on I-64 from 21st Street to the Poplar Street Bridge will be open starting at 6 p.m. Friday. The Broadway, 10th Street and 14th Street entrance ramps to westbound I-64 will be closed this weekend. All ramps, including 14th street on ramp will reopen by 3 a.m. Monday. Crews are continuing work to remove and replace the driving surface on the westbound double deck structure. I-64 westbound lane closures downtown Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) crews continue to have one lane closed around the clock downtown on westbound Interstate 64 from Broadway to 21st Street with a second lane closed weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the following morning. On Friday, crews will keep the second lane on westbound I-64 closed from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday. In addition, two lanes on eastbound I-64 between Broadway and 21st Street will be closed from midnight until noon Saturday August 18. Ramps closed downtown this weekend Cardinals fans heading from the city to westbound Interstate 64 this week should remember that several ramps to westbound I-64 will remain closed until early September. St. Louis area motorists should be prepared to slow down and plan for the many work zones that are scheduled over the next week. The Missouri Department of Transportation has 125 work zones scheduled on interstates and arterials throughout the region during the next several days. On Friday, repairs to the Interstate 70 bridge over Earth City Expressway impacted traffic when two lanes and various ramps were closed. These repairs are part of MoDOT’s contract on the I-70 Blanchette Bridge. The two westbound lanes closed 7 p.m. Friday and will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. MoDOT is once again closing all lanes on north and southbound I-270 daily so crews can blast rock.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has resumed daily Interstate 270 lane closures so crews can continue blasting rock along the interstate as part of the I-270 lane expansion project. According to a MoDOT news release, the approximately 15-minute closures will take place in both directions of I-270 from Interstate 44 to Manchester Road starting Wednesday. The road will close at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each weekday, to blast rock south of Dougherty Ferry Road. "Crews will need to blast and then clear any rock from the roadway before reopening the interstate," Wednesday's news release stated. MoDOT crews will have westbound Interstate 64 closed for portions of this weekend to continue work around the double deck structure downtown. The work should not significantly impact runners and walkers heading to the Race for the Cure downtown. Crews will close all lanes of westbound I-64 from Broadway to 21st Street starting Friday at 10 a.m. They will reopen one lane between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday to allow Race for the Cure participants to get downtown. Then, the lanes remain closed until 3 a.m. Monday. The detour for the closure is Interstate 44 to Jefferson. An O'Fallon man was seriously injured on I-270 when he was ejected from a car's sunroof.
An O'Fallon man was seriously injured early Wednesday on I-270. Jeffrey Morrissey, 21, was ejected from the passenger seat and out of the sunroof of a 2010 Toyota Camry, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Alex Abrams, 30, of St. Charles was allegedly driving the car at 1:22 a.m. on June 20. The Highway Patrol's report indicates Morrissey was standing in the sunroof when Abrams lost control. Morrissey was then ejected from the vehicle. KMOV-TV reported Abrams was arrested for DWUI and felony assault charges.
