MoDOT Schedules Work Monday on Blanchette Bridge and Interstate 70 Near Route 79

MoDOT will doing pavement repairs at Route 79 and re-striping on the Blanchette Bridge.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will be busy on Monday in St. Charles County. MoDOT will close the far right lane of eastbound Interstate 70 near Route 79 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 29 for pavement repairs, weather permitting. The lane closure will begin just east of Route 79. The entrance ramp from Route 79 to eastbound I-70 will also be closed. Northbound Route 79 motorists are advised to follow the message boards and use the north outer road to detour and access eastbound I-70.                 Closer to St. Louis, MoDOT will close multiple lanes in each direction on Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday. MoDOT Plans Closure of One Lane Of Westbound I-70 Starting Monday

The closure begins a half mile east of Route 79 and ends at the Route 79 exit.

Lane closures will be coming to westbound Interstate 70 starting on Monday.  The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the far right lane of westbound Interstate 70 near Route 79 on Monday, April 22 at 3 a.m. The closure begins a half mile east of Route 79 and ends at the Route 79 exit. This closure will remain in place for the next three months. The Route 79 exit remains open. This work is part of a project constructing a diverging diamond interchange (DDI). The project also includes the construction of an additional westbound I-70 lane between Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Route 79.

MoDOT Reveals Plans for Interchange Reconstruction at I-70 and Mid Rivers Mall

The $13 million project is set to start in March and be finished by November.

A plan two years in the making to alleviate congestion at Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Interstate 70 should begin work as soon as next month.  Thursday afternoon the Missouri Department of Transportation hosted an open house at St. Peters City Hall to introduce the public to plans to reconfigured the heavily-trafficked interchange. Plans for a new diverging diamond interchange were unveiled and explained to the public in attendance. "This is just another old interchange that needed to be updated to handle the volume of traffic it's trying to handle," said Russ Batzel, the public works service manager for St. Peters.  Along with rebuilding the interchange, an additional lane will be added on westbound I-70. O'Fallon Woman Escapes Scary I-70 Car Accident Unscathed

After hitting the concrete median along Interstate 70, Roxanna Logan's car swerved across several lanes of rush hour traffic before stopping on the highway.

A 37-year-old O'Fallon woman sustained just minor injuries after a frightening car accident along Interstate 70 Tuesday morning.  According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Roxanna Logan was driving eastbound on I-70, just west of Cave Springs Boulevard, when two cars driving in close proximity to her collided. One of those cars then spun around and hit Logan's car and both cars struck the concrete median on the busy highway during Tuesday's morning rush hour.  Logan's car, after hitting the median, then traveled across all lanes of the highway before coming to a rest on the shoulder.  Logan was taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters via ambulance but was only reported to have minor injuries. Her car sustained moderate damage.

MoDOT will close one lane on westbound Interstate 70 from Route 79 to Route K for paving.

(The following press release was issued by the Missouri Department of Transportation.) The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and its contractor Fred Weber Inc. will close the far right lane of westbound Interstate 70 starting tonight, weather permitting. Crews will close one lane on I-70 from Route 79 to Route K for pavement work nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, September 10 through Wednesday, September 12. Workers will be paving a new shoulder as part of a project to add a fourth westbound lane on I-70 from T.R. Hughes Boulevard to Route K. Car crash on Interstate 70 sends O'Fallon woman to hospital with moderate injuries.

A 22-year-old O'Fallon woman, attempting to dodge an unknown vehicle on Interstate 70 Saturday morning, inadvertently traveled underneath a Freightliner truck. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Elizabeth Brown was driving eastbound along I-70, near the Highway K exit, when she had to swerve from lane three of the highway to lane two in order to miss an unknown vehicle.  As she swerved, she traveled underneath the towed unit of the Freightliner.  Brown was taken to the St. Joseph Health Center with moderate injuries. No further details were available.

Two Injured in Multi-Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 70

A O'Fallon man was injured in a four-vehicle crash on Friday night.

A O'Fallon man was injured in a four-car crash on westbound Interstate 70 last Friday night.  Gregory Hanks, 21, of O'Fallon, was transported for St. Joseph's Hospital-West by St. Charles County EMS after being involved in the crash just east of Bryan Road on 11:34 p.m. on July 6. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Hanks had minor injuries.  The crash report says Hanks, Joshua Kiel, 27, of O'Fallon and Jeremy Helmholtz, 22, of St. Peters were driving westbound on Interstate 70 in lane one on motorcycles. A fourth car, driven by an unknown driver, was in lane two. The fourth car changed lanes from two to one and struck Hanks' motorcycle, causing the vehicle to overturn. City Council Agrees to Cost Sharing For I-70 Corridor Study

Council members voted 7-1 to contribute $50,000 for a study that will examine ways to improve I-70 traffic.

O’Fallon City Council agreed to contribute $50,000 to a study that will take a look at ways to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and examine other issues along the I-70 corridor at last Thursday’s meeting. The council voted 7-1 to approve entering the intergovernmental agreement with St. Charles County, in partnership with other local cities and Great Rivers Greenway. Ward 4 Councilman Jeff Schwentker voted against the bill. Ward 1 Councilwoman Rose Mack and Ward 3 Councilman Rick Battelle were absent. According to the agreement, the Federal Highway Administration will partner with Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission to complete the $375,000 study of the western corridor, from I-270 in St. Louis County to Lake Saint Louis…
