A spokesman for the home-improvement chain said plans were withdrawn to build a new store on the O'Fallon-Lake Saint Louis- border, due to President Barack Obama's policies.
Earlier this week, a Menards spokesman cited President Barack Obama's policies as the reason for pulling the plug on plans to build a new store on the O'Fallon-Lake Saint Louis border. Some Patch readers said they support the decison, while others said they aren't buying the reasoning. O'Fallon Patch reported on Dec. 6, according to documents in the O'Fallon Planning and Zoning Commission meeting agenda packet, representatives from the store requested to withdraw the applications for the conditional use permit, site plan and rezoning for the project at the end of November. O'Fallon Planning and Development Director David Woods said he was told the decision was made looking at the "big picture," which included the economic direction of …

Representatives from the store requested to withdraw the applications for the conditional use permit, site plan and rezoning for the project at the end of November.
O'Fallon residents who were looking forward to a Menards close to home will have to travel to St. Peters to shop this spring. As Patch previously reported, a developer with a contract on a piece of property south of Highway N announced plans in March 2012 to build a Menards home improvement store. Menards is a national chain that began moving into the St. Louis area last spring. The actual store would have been located in O'Fallon, but outlots would have been in the the City of Lake Saint Louis. Lake Saint Louis would also maintain Orf Road and Old Highway N, roads that would service the retail development. According to the O'Fallon Planning and Zoning Commission meeting agenda packet, representatives from the store requested to …

O’Fallon Police investigated three separate burglaries, which occurred while the garage doors were open and the resident was performing yard work in the back yard.
The accident occurred on westbound Interstate 10 during rush-hour traffic Friday.
Three drivers from O'Fallon, Wentzville and Lake Saint Louis were involved in a three-car chain-reaction accident Friday on Interstate 70. Linda E. Chatman, 21, of O'Fallon, was following too closely behind Tramble, reported the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Chatman's truck struck the rear of Tramble's Pontiac, which in turn struck the back of Parr's vehicle. Tramble received minor injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to SSM St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles. She was …

The pharmacy is located at 2175 W Terra Lane in Peruque Crossing Shopping Center, at the border of O’Fallon and Lake St. Louis.
A local family-owned pharmacy is just one year away from celebrating 40-years of serving O’Fallon and Lake Saint Louis residents. When Sandy and Marlene Palens first opened Wharf Healthmart Pharmacy in Lake Saint Louis in November 1973, business wasn’t quite booming. “It was kind of slow going at first, there weren’t many houses out here,” Shanna Palens, vice president of marketing said. But as St. Charles County continued to grow, so did the family business. Today Wharf Pharmacy is located at 2175 W Terra Lane in Peruque Crossing Shopping Center, at the border of O’Fallon and Lake St. Louis, where they moved in 2006. The pharmacy has been in the family for almost 40 years. Shanna’s husband Andy decided to follow in his father Sandy’s …

Zach Blakemore suffers from a rare neurological disease that confines him to an electric wheelchair. His grandparents teamed up to help him race in a triathlon on Saturday.
Over the weekend, a local boy had the opportunity to race along side his family in a triathlon. Zach Blakemore suffers from a rare neurological disease that confines him to an electric wheelchair. Zachary has watched his mother and grandfather race in the Lake Saint Louis triathlon's for years and every year he asks, "When can I race?" This was his year. Zach's grandfather, Brian Mackay, formed a team to be Zach's legs, allowing Zach to accomplish his dream of racing. Brian used a specialized bike trailer for the 26 mile bike race. Zachary's mother, Natalie Blakemore, pushed the jogging stroller for the six-mile run. His grandmother, Joan Mackay, volunteered to swim with Zach. Thank you to Devin and Anisa Mears for sharing photos from the …

Fireworks will be popping on the Fourth, but where exactly is the best place to watch them?
The Fourth of July means a lot of different things to a lot of people. It's the birthday of the old U S of A, it's a day off work, it's a day to barbecue and, of course, it's a day for fireworks. When the sun goes down, the real show begins. Fireworks and the Fourth are a tradition that goes together like peanut butter and jelly. While firework shows around the area are being called off because of fire concerns, St. Charles County has made it through relatively unscathed. St. Charles, O'Fallon, Wentzville and Lake Saint Louis all have plans to light up the night sky during the Fourth. Growing up, I spent most of my Independence Days visiting my grandparents in Arkansas. My grandpa would grill up some delicious ribs and then we'd hit the…
