A St. Charles County Drug Task Force investigation found a stash of drugs in the woman's floor vent several months after she sold meth to an undercover officer.
A O’Fallon woman was indicted by a St. Charles County grand jury Friday on eight drug charges. The woman, Lisa Ann Ray, 44, was indicted on two counts of distributing a controlled substance, five counts of possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug-related items. St. Charles County Drug Task Force detectives said Ray sold methamphetamine to an undercover officer June 7 at 281 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Peters. Detectives searched her home in the first block of Green Tree Lane in O’Fallon Sept. 11 and said they found several items hidden in a bag inside a floor vent. A man faces drug and handgun charges after the St. Charles County Drug Task Force searched his St. Charles County home near O’Fallon, police said. Brian Whaley, 36, of the first block of Laura Drive in St. Charles County near O’Fallon, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of handguns. A Drug Task Force detective said Whaley had been under investigation by the drug task force, which executed a search warrant on his home Nov. 20. Acccording to court documents, the search discovered eight foil devices used to smoke methamphetamine and eight handguns. Zephrex-D, a new decongestant that drug agents say cannot be converted into methamphetamine, is set to hit St. Louis pharmacies this month. A prescription will not be required to purchase the drug in some areas.
Zephrex-D, a new decongestant that its manufacturer and St. Louis area drug agents say cannot be converted into methamphetamine, is set to hit St. Louis pharmacies this month. As previously reported by Patch, Zephrex D is expected to be available in St. Louis area pharmacies in November. Since its maker and drug agents say it cannot be converted into meth, it will also be sold without a prescription in some counties that have recently passed ordinances requiring a prescription to purchasepseudoephedrine products like Claritin-D and Allegra-D. An O’Fallon woman was charged Thursday with possessing pseudoephedrine with intent to make methamphetamine. A St. Charles County Sheriff's deputy stopped Nicole Barton, 32, of the 400 block of Eastbrook in O’Fallon, for a traffic violation Wednesday on Feise Road near Winterset Hollow Court. The deputy saw two pseudoephedrine blister packages in the car, according to a report. A check of Barton’s pseudoephedrine purchase history showed 34 purchases and two attempts that were blocked because she exceeded the legal limit. Bond was set at $35,000, cash only. Three people were charged Thursday with making and possessing methamphetamine in O’Fallon after authorities received a tip about a meth lab. Charged with making and possessing methamphetamine were: Acting on a tip, St. Charles County Drug Task Force members went to a mobile home July 10 on Thoroughbred Drive in O’Fallon and saw two men leave the house and get in a pickup truck. As detectives drove past the house, they smelled a strong chemical odor from cooking meth, according to a task force report. Detectives arranged to have the truck stopped by St. Charles County deputies while detectives checked out the house. A check on a woman who bought too much pseudoephedrine leads Sheriff's Department detectives to two meth labs.
The St. Charles County Drug Task Force arrested three O’Fallon residents in a string of methamphetamine-related charges last week. Prosecutors filed charges in St. Charles County Circuit Court against the three June 20: Detectives said in a report that they checked on Riffle June 19 because she had a large pseudoephedrine purchase history, according to registry records Riffle told task force members she bought the meth ingredient and traded it to Harness and his girlfriend, Henke, for finished meth. A couple was charged Wednesday with making methamphetamine in their O’Fallon home, where five children lived with them. Travis D. Stanfill, 33, and Mandy R. Heath, 32, of the 2000 block of Collier Boulevard, each were charged with making and possessing meth and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. A St. Charles County Drug Task Force member said in a report that detectives found a meth lab in the home Tuesday while executing a search warrant. They found an active “one-pot” meth lab and chemicals used to make meth. The couple had five children living in the home with them, ages 12, 10, 8, and 7 years old and 11 days old. An O’Fallon man was indicted by a St. Charles County grand jury Friday with making and possessing methamphetamine. A St. Charles County Regional Drug Task Force detective said in a report that a witness said she suspected Shane A. Groenke, 46, of the 500 block of Trudy Lane, was making meth in his garage. Groenke turned himself in for questioning and told police he had made meth in his garage 20 to 30 times for several months through Sept. 15, according to the drug task force report. Sentencing hearing was held Monday morning in St. Charles Circuit Court.
Paul J. Morrison, the O'Fallon man alleged to have shot his estranged wife's boyfriend on Christmas Eve morning was sentenced this morning. Morrison, 45, was originally charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. He pled guilty to second-degree assault, a Class C felony, on Sept. 19. Morrison also pled guilty Monday to a second charge of manufacturing an illegal substance (methamphetamine), a Class B felony. That charge stems from a Sept. 7 arrest. St. Charles Circuit Judge Nancy L. Schneider sentenced Morrison to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the assault and 10 years for the drug charge. A new law requiring a prescription to purchase cold medicines containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine took effect in St. Charles County Tuesday. Anyone seeking to purchase the products must have a doctor's note to do so. The bill, passed by the St. Charles County Council on July 25, is aimed at curbing production of methamphetamine in St. Charles County. The compounds in the cold medications are staples for the manufacture of methamphetamine. The county council passed the new requirement in a unanimous 7-0 vote. Council Chairman Joe Brazil, R-2nd District, noted at the time that in 2011, more than 100 meth labs had been discovered in St. Charles County, topping last year’s 92 in half the time.
