O'Fallon emergency crews responded to a mulit-car accident at Mexico Loop Road and Highway K on Thursday afternoon. O'Fallon Police said two subjects were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Local emergency personnel are urging residents to be aware of the possible increase in fire and medical emergencies due the dry conditions and heat in St. Charles County. Temperatures have lingered in the 100s for days, and with the Fourth of July holiday coming up, fire and police officials warn that the drought-like conditions and fireworks don’t mix. Some fire departments, including Wentzville and Cottleville, have already seen small grass fires due to personal fireworks displays. An elderly couple was taken to an area hospital for smoke inhalation.
Neighbors pulled an elderly O'Fallon couple from the flames, as their duplex caught fire early Monday morning. According to Fox 2, O'Fallon firefighters were called to the duplex on Park Ridge Drive and Danes Park around 12:30 a.m. The couple was taken to an area hospital and treated for smoke inhalation. Scott Avery, public information officer for the O'Fallon Fire Protection District, told O'Fallon Patch on Tuesday, that firefighters determined the fire started on the deck and was not suspicious. A home on Castlebrook Drive was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning.
Editor's Note: This article was updated at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A fire destroyed a home at 660 Castlebrook Drive early Tuesday morning. Scott Avery, public information officer for the O'Fallon Fire Protection District, said the fire was reported around 9:43 a.m. He said the blaze caused extensive damage and the home is a total loss. Nearly 23 firefighters from O'Fallon, Central County Fire and Rescue and Cottleville arrived on the scene. Avery said it took an hour and 10 minutes to extinguish the flames. Fire officials say they do not know the cause of the fire at this time. Around noon, firefighters worked to extinguish the hot spots, so they could begin their investigation. An O'Fallon family was treated for carbon monoxide poisoning early Monday morning. According to the St. Charles County Ambulance District, paramedics and O'Fallon fire fighters responded to a 911 call around 8:05 a.m. on Dec. 26. When emergency responders arrived, one adult and two children standing outside the home appeared to have reddish colored faces and complained of feeling light headed. One family member was still inside the home. According to Martin Limpert, spokesman for St Charles County Ambulance District, O'Fallon firefighters entered the residence with a CO detector and discovered a very high reading of 900 parts per million (ppm).
