Civic Hall Demolition Underway
City staff is working with an engineering firm to decide the best location in Civic Park to build a new facility and take a look at the possibility of expanding or enclosing portions of Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center.
Crews began tearing down O'Fallon's old Civic Hall building Thursday. The O'Fallon City Council decided last April that the condemned building should be replaced and not renovated. O’Fallon Director of Parks and Recreation Cindy Springer said city staff is working with an engineering firm to decide the best location in Civic Park to build a new facility and take a look at the possibility of expanding or enclosing portions of Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center. The city hopes to have a final design by June, along with cost estimates. No date is yet identified for construction to begin. O’Fallon Parks Staff Addresses Community Concerns at Westhoff Skate Park
Residents previously expressed concerns regarding noise in the park, people cutting through yards and proposed lighting.
O’Fallon Parks and Recreation staff recently took steps to address several concerns some residents expressed regarding the new Westhoff Skate Park. The park, located in Westhoff Park at the entrance near T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Cool Springs Industrial Drive, opened in November 2012. O'Fallon City Council approved the $399,176.46 construction contract with Hardcore Shotcrete Skateparks in July 2012 and construction began in August. The O'Fallon Parks and Recreation Department worked on the project for nearly two years. When the city upgraded their Parks and Recreation Master Plan in 2009 and asked residents to share thoughts for improvements, residents responded with requests for a skate park. The park is great I just ride their for the first time yesterday! The only improvements I see that would definitely help would be a little more lighting at night. It's pretty dark in a lot of spots and that can be dangerous when you can't see the best. Last Chance: Sign Up For O'Fallon's Adult Halloween Haunted Park Hunt
Participants must register in advance no later than Friday, Oct. 12.
If you're an adult who still loves Halloween, you can get in the spirit with O'Fallon's Haunted Park Hunt. The adult scavenger hunt for ages 21 and older is in Dames Park in O'Fallon from 7–10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. Participants must register in advance no later than Friday, Oct. 12. No registration will be taken at the gate. All you need is some friends and a flashlight to enjoy the haunted happening. Two-person teams compete to be the first in deciphering clues to win prizes. O’Fallon Skate Park Under Construction in Westhoff Park
The park under construction in Westhoff Park at the entrance near T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Cool Springs Industrial Drive is expected to be complete by early December.
Editor's Note: This article was updated at 8:15 a.m. with the correct size of the skate park. O’Fallon skaters and bikers will have a new place to ride before the end of the year. A skate park is under construction in Westhoff Park at the entrance near T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Cool Springs Industrial Drive. The Westhoff Plaza park will be made of concrete and measure around 10,600 square feet in size, with street and bowl skateboarding features. Register Now For O'Fallon's 10th Annual Fall Fest 5K
The cost is $15 per person through Sept. 6 and $18 per person through Oct. 10.
Kick-off the fall season by putting on a creative costume and participating in O'Fallon's 10th annual Fall Fest 5K. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13.
