City staff is working with an engineering firm to decide the best location in Civic Park to build a new facility and take a look at the possibility of expanding or enclosing portions of Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center.
Crews began tearing down O'Fallon's old Civic Hall building Thursday. The O'Fallon City Council decided last April that the condemned building should be replaced and not renovated. O’Fallon Director of Parks and Recreation Cindy Springer said city staff is working with an engineering firm to decide the best location in Civic Park to build a new facility and take a look at the possibility of expanding or enclosing portions of Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center. The city hopes to have a final design by June, along with cost estimates. No date is yet identified for construction to begin. The park, located in Westhoff Park at the entrance near T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Cool Springs Industrial Drive, opened in November 2012. O'Fallon City Council approved the $399,176.46 construction contract with Hardcore Shotcrete Skateparks in July 2012 and construction began in August. The O'Fallon Parks and Recreation Department worked on the project for nearly two years. The park is great I just ride their for the first time yesterday! The only improvements I see that would definitely help would be a little more lighting at night. It's pretty dark in a lot of spots and that can be dangerous when you can't see the best. The new O'Fallon Parks and Recreation and Renaud Spirit Center sites debuted on Thursday.
Kids can visit with Santa and enjoy holiday-themed activities and games, too, at three O’Fallon Parks and Recreation Department programs.

If you're an adult who still loves Halloween, you can get in the spirit with O'Fallon's Haunted Park Hunt. The adult scavenger hunt for ages 21 and older is in Dames Park in O'Fallon from 7–10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. Participants must register in advance no later than Friday, Oct. 12. No registration will be taken at the gate. All you need is some friends and a flashlight to enjoy the haunted happening. Two-person teams compete to be the first in deciphering clues to win prizes. A skate park is under construction in Westhoff Park at the entrance near T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Cool Springs Industrial Drive. The Westhoff Plaza park will be made of concrete and measure around 10,600 square feet in size, with street and bowl skateboarding features.
