O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce Teams Up With Salvation Army to Support Toy Town

New toys of $20 or more can be dropped off at the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce office at 2145 Bryan Valley Commercial Dr. or the O’Fallon Salvation Army at 1 William Booth Dr.

This holiday season the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Salvation Army of O’Fallon to help promote and collect donations for the 2012 Toy Town held at O’Fallon City Hall. Toy Town will help many families in St. Charles County who are struggling to provide Christmas toys for their children. Each year Toy Town collects toys, clothes and other necessities from local drives, in order to provide gifts for children and seniors in the western St. Charles County area. Families who qualify within a certain income bracket register in November, and are allowed to come shop for gifts for their children at no cost. Each family is allowed to choose one large gift, two small and something from the puzzle, games and clothing tables. O’…

'Soul Patch' Garden Offers Unique Opportunity

The new O'Fallon Salvation Army Community Garden is up and running with plenty of free spaces left for planting produce.

With the start of summer around the corner, those with a green thumb are itching to get their gardens planted.  The new O’Fallon Salvation Army Community Garden, lovingly dubbed “Soul Patch” by those who work and volunteer here, offers just this opportunity for new or seasoned produce growers.  “We wanted to encourage and teach people to grow their own vegetables instead of buying them at the store along with everything else,” said O’Fallon Salvation Army Captain Paul Ferguson.  The Community Garden was created about a month ago and has seen some action since then.  “This piece of ground had never been worked before, so it was quite a lot of work and took some time to get going,” Ferguson said.
