O'Fallon Officer to Receive Medal of Valor Award Tuesday

Award ceremony is sponsored by the Crusade Against Crime of America.

Twenty-five local law enforcement officers are scheduled to receive the prestigious Medal of Valor Award at a noon luncheon Tuesday at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark. The keynote speaker at the 43rd annual Medal of Valor awards luncheon will be Duane Benton, U.S. Circuit Judge, 8th District Court of Appeals. The master of ceremonies for the event is Sandy Miller, Fox2 News. The ceremony is sponsored by the Crusade Against Crime of America Tickets for the luncheon are $35 per person with tables of 10 available. O'Fallon Police Officer Receives Medal of Valor For Stopping Assault of Violent, Naked Man

Officer Thomas Kenyon stopped a violent, out of control man who allegedly assaulted and severely injured a young woman, then attacked him as he arrived on the scene in April.

Police officers put their lives on the line each day as they head out to do their jobs. O'Fallon Police Chief Roy Joachimstaler said one of his favorite parts of being chief in the City of O'Fallon, is having the opportunity to recognize the hard work of these officers. Joachimstaler joined by Mayor Bill Hennessy, presented O'Fallon Police Officer Thomas Kenyon with the Medal of Valor at last Thursday's city council meeting.  On April 18, a man called O'Fallon Police at 2:12 a.m. to report his son, who had reportedly taken out a medieval style club with spikes and become violent at his home while on LSD.
