Hobo's Plans to Open Second Location in Former Ozella's Pizzeria

The O'Fallon Planning and Zoning Commission approved the request for a conditional use permit for 468 and 470 Highway P.

A St. Peters restaurant and bar is planning to open a second location in O'Fallon.  Hobo’s Restaurant at the Tap, is located at the St. Peters American Legion at 200 Main St. The popular St. Peters establishment offers typical bar fare in addition to frog legs, catfish and fried chicken. Happy hour is from 3- 5 p.m. on Monday-Friday and the bar features live music every Saturday night. Owners Brian and Rhonda Ward are planning on open new location in Dames Park Plaza at 468 and 470 Highway P, where the former Ozella's Pizzeria was located.  On Thursday, the O'Fallon Planning and Zoning Commission approved the request for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) subject to staff approval for 468 and 470 Highway P. O'Fallon Residents React to Ozella's Pizzeria Closing

Ozella's Pizzeria, located at 468 Highway P in O'Fallon, is now closed.  Ozella's opened an O'Fallon location in 2007. According to the website, the restaurant got its start in North County in the late 1950s and was known as "the place for the best pizza in town."  O'Fallon Patch readers voiced mixed reactions to the restaurant's closing on Tuesday.  From O'Fallon Patch: Jim Frain: "It's always a tragedy when a business closes and even more difficult when it is a family business....We are sorry to lose Ozella's Pizzeria. As a small business owner, I frequented Ozellas. The service was always good and the atmosphere very friendly and family oriented! I agree, advertising is one of the bigges expenses for a small business since it is priced for chain stores and large business. It's a shame they had to close. I have been in business for 10 years and so many of our guests still ask- "Did you just open?"   more ›

Ozella's Pizzeria Now Closed in O'Fallon

A local pizza shop has closed its doors in O'Fallon.  The former Ozella's Pizzeria, located at 468 Highway P in O'Fallon, is now dark and according to the business website, they are closed.  Ozella's opened an O'Fallon location in 2007. According to the website, the restaurant got its start in North County in the late 1950s and was known as "the place for the best pizza in town."  After closing two of the original Ozella's shops in 1981, family members decided to open a new store.  "We decided to open the 3rd Ozella's in 2007 and bring back all of the wonderful recipes used by my Grandpa and Grandma," the website states.  The dinner-only restaurant offered a menu including soups, pasta, pizza, chili and root beer floats, along with frozen …
