Find out how you can help the nursery, or send your own ideas of places for Patchers to volunteer.

Patch editors in the St. Louis area cleaned, organized, sorted, wiped, hugged and played at the St. Charles location for the St. Louis Crisis Nursery. The Crisis Nursery's mission is to prevent child abuse by providing temporary housing and care for young children in order to give their parents and caretakers the space and time needed to resolve crisis.  Patch editors organized and sanitized toys, cleaned high chairs and walls, put away summer clothes, put babies to sleep and played with the little ones. See previous story: Patch Volunteers Today at Crisis Nursery We volunteer as part of our coverage with a program called "Give 5," through which we donate advertising space to charitable organizations and contribute our own time as …

10 Most Read in St. Louis: Decapitated Baby, Hurricane Sandy, Food Trucks in St. Charles and More

Check out the 10 most read stories on Missouri Patch sites for the month of October.

1. Lawsuit Claims Baby Was Decapitated During Delivery at Mercy Sometimes, the news can be tragic. That was certainly the case in this report from Creve Coeur Patch.  According to a 10-count complaint filed in St. Louis County Circuit Court, a local couple claimed that doctors involved with the delivery of their baby coerced them into a vaginal delivery against their wishes and then hid the fact that their baby had been decapitated during the delivery process. The same story, posted on Florissant Patch (Florissant Couple Files Lawsuit, Claims Baby Was Decapitated in Delivery), also ranked among the most read stories in Missouri Patch.   2. What Time is Tonight’s Obama v. Romney Presidential Debate? Patch has gone all-in this election …

It's College Colors Day: Show Us Your Fan Photos!

Are you a Mizzou fan? College Colors Day is an annual day where people across the country show their support for their favorite college by wearing its colors.

Mizzou? SLU? Lindenwood? Which college or university lays claim to having the most fans in St. Louis?  Today is College Colors Day, an annual celebration, according to its website, dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that make the college experience great by encouraging people across America to wear apparel of their favorite college or university throughout the day. Here at Patch, we're using the day to find out which higher education establishment has the most support in the St. Louis-community. I, myself, am a proud graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale—go Salukis!—but am also a huge fan of Mizzou. What about you? Upload a photo of you, your family, your dog—whatever—displaying your college colors.   When …

Man Taken to Hospital After Tractor Trailer Flat Tire Causes Accident Near Hwy. K

Tractor trailer flat tire causes accident on Highway 40 in O'Fallon.

A 36-year-old Wentzville man was taken to a nearby hospital Thursday after he was involved in a two-car accident with a tractor trailer near the intersection of Highway 40 and Highway K. Clyde Lindemann was driving eastbound on Hwy. 40 when a nearby tractor trailer blew a tire. The debris from the blow out travelled into Lindemann's lane, which forced him to travel off the right side of the road, back onto the highway where it struck the trailer before traveling off the right side of the road again. Lindemann's car then overturned. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur by St. Charles County ambulance.  No one else was injured in the incident. The accident backed up traffic for about an hour.

I love pumpkin pie as well and I think some cream cheese adds a great flavor. Maybe just about 3oz for a normal size pie, soften and mix in with all the pie filling ingredients.   more ›
