At the end of the recent basketball season the GAC North and the GAC South named first-team all conference for boys and girls basketball. Ten players from the teams all around were chosen to be first-team all conference. We know want to know who you think is the best of the best. This week, we'll look at the girls. The voters have spoken, oh have they ever, and Lexie Moe has been tabbed as the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 4. In what was easily the most highly-contested athlete of the week poll Patch has ever run, more than 440,000—that's four hundred and forty thousand—votes were cast for the favorite athlete in St. Charles County. Moe won with 274,379 of the 440,417 votes (62 percent). Here's how the voting broke down: Total votes: 440,417 In just about any other week, Sharese Jones would've won the title, but the fans of Zumwalt West, and Lexie Moe, were simply too much to stop—much like Moe in her game against Howell Central. It's time, once again, to pick St. Charles County's favorite athlete. Be heard by picking our Patch Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 4. Last week's winner: Austin Rugraff of St. Charles West High School. Coming off a Class 3 State title in the 160-pound weight class, Rugraff won the poll with a staggering 95 percent of the vote. Rugraff picked up 210 of the 221 votes cast. The Timberland High School boys basketball team fought tooth and nail with Fort Zumwalt West Monday evening through four quarters and two overtimes. Ultimately, the Timberwolves outlasted the Jaguars in an exciting 64-60 double-overtime win that opened the Class 5, District 6 Missouri State High School Activities Association playoffs. Four Timberland players scored in the double digits, including Andrew Jehle, who turned in a 15 point performance to help lead the Timberwolves (7-17) on to the second round of the district tournament against Troy Buchanan, which had a first-round bye. Eschweiler shot 6-of-13 from the floor en route to a 20 point evening in the Warriors' 59-44 win over Orchard Farm Feb. 8.
