"Attacking firearms and ignoring children is not a solution," The NRA said.

The National Rife Association has released a statement following the announcement of President's Obama's gun control plan, which includes 23 executive actions that do not require the approval of Congress. The President is urging Americans to put pressure on Congress to pass measures such as universal background checks on gun sales, a ban on military-style assault rifles and limiting the capacity of ammunition magazines. READ MORE: President Obama's Gun Control Plan Released Wednesday The NRA's press release states that "attacking firearms and ignoring children is not a solution to the crisis we face as a nation." Menards Blames Obama For Decision to Pull Plug on O'Fallon Site

The home-improvement chain recently withdrew plans to build a new store on the Lake Saint Louis-O'Fallon border.

The Suburban Journals reported Monday that a Menard's spokesman has blamed President Obama and his administration for Menard's decision to pull the plug on plans to build a new store in O'Fallon on Hwy. N south of I-64. The development would have straddled the O'Fallon-Lake Saint Louis border, with the Menard's store itself in O'Fallon, but part of the parking lot and outlot businesses in Lake Saint Louis. The Journal quoted an email from Menards spokesman Jeff Abbott: "I'm very sorry, but we are a family owned business and with the Obama Administration scaring the dickens out of all small businesses in the USA at present, we have decided not to risk expansion until things are more settled." Patch reported Dec. 6 that documents were …

Devon Seddon. That is NOT why TIF was conceived. TIF was designed for urban renewal not successful economic areas like O'Fallon. 1st lie, TIF revenue bonds won’t cost anything because bond debt is paid out of TIF revenues. Revenue bonds have higher interest than voter approved GO bonds because revenue bonds are ONLY secured by project revenues not by the “full faith and credit” of the issuing …   more ›

What Do You Think About Donald Trump's Proposition?

Donald Trump has made an offer to President Obama that could mean $5 million to the charity of the President's choice.

With questions still arising about President Obama's country of birth and his college history, Donald Trump has made the President an offer, and the offer expires on Oct. 31, just days before the election. In his video, Trump asks the President to be more transparent and release his college transcripts and passport information. If he does, Trump said he'll write a $5 million check to the charity of Obama's choice. In August, an editorial in The Week posed four theories about why the outcry for President Obama's college transcripts had replaced "birtherism." One of the theories was that it was simply a way to distract from Mitt Romney's tax returns. Jack Cashill's opinion piece on WND.com on Aug. 15 asked "Why did Obama seal his transcripts…

AG Candidate Ed Martin Puts 'Obamacare' Opposition On Wheels

The Attorney is using an old ambulance to collect petition signatures.

Chalk this up as one of the more unusual transportation vehicles utilized during the 2012 election season: St. Louis City attorney Ed Martin’s campaign for attorney general is using a retrofitted ambulance aimed at showcasing the Republican’s opposition to President Barack Obama’s health care plan. Martin’s campaign announced last week that the “Ed Martin for Attorney General Campaign ‘Stop Obamacare’ Ambulance” would be traveling around the state to collect signatures against the health care law passed in 2010.  “We are inviting citizens from across the state to come out to the ‘Stop Obamacare’ Ambulance Tour and sign the petition to stop the implementation of Obamacare here in Missouri,” Martin said in a statement. “The petition is meant…

State of the Union: The White House Wants Us to Tune In Online

The State of the Union is going interactive, with an online-only "enhanced broadcast" of President Obama's remarks.

Do you watch the State of the Union? Millions of Americans do, although ratings for President Obama's 2011 address were down over the previous year. I confess that I mostly do not watch the SOTU, and it makes no difference whether the commander-in-chief is one for whom I voted. The SOTU is usually longer than it needs to be, and the constant ovations--with concurrent non-ovations by those who don't support the president--drive me to distraction. Still, I know it's important to hear what the President has to say about how he and the country are doing, so I don't avoid the SOTU altogether. How I usually "watch" Please don't judge me too harshly, but my approach is as follows: How I might try watching  Even as I write this, I am not …
