Customers 'Pay it Forward' at Heaven Scent Bakery Drive-Thru in O'Fallon

Last weekend, in a random act of kindness, six cars of customers paid for the orders of the people behind them.

It's the season of giving and that's exactly what some customers did at Heaven Scent Bakery on Sunday afternoon.  According to the bakery located at 133 Bryan Rd, O'Fallon, they saw some "real life angels" in the drive-thru that afternoon.  The Heaven Scent Facebook page states: "A woman and her little girl asked to pay for the order of the car behind them. The lady whose order was paid for in turn paid for the car behind her. This carried on, over and over, for 6 cars.... Way to "Pay it Forward"!!" Other Heaven Scent Bakery fans commented about the random act of kindness on the business Facebook page:  Mike Arnold: Had a friend post earlier in the week that she was part of the chain. City Takes Time For Random Acts of Kindness

O'Fallon employees spent Valentine's Day delivering cards and hand-crafted flowers to local seniors.

City of O'Fallon employees filled their arms with  brightly colored tissue paper flowers and headed out to local senior homes to share the Valentine's Day love on Monday.  Each year on Random Acts of Kindness Day, Feb. 14, city employees visit local senior centers and nursing homes, to distribute origami flowers, cards and candy. Local volunteers crafted the cards and flowers at the annual Martin Luther King Day of Service on Jan. 17.  Volunteer Services Director Kathy Halstead started Random Acts of Kindness  10 years ago. She said she chose Valentine’s Day for the project, because it seems to be a day that seniors are often forgotten.

The Employees of the City of O'Fallon are a unique and caring group of people. We are all blessed to have them in city hall but more importantly we are fortunate that they are our neighbors and our friends too. They put an exclamation point on RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS!!!   more ›
