Man Throws Liquor Bottles at Cop, Police Say

The man stole the liquor from an O'Fallon Walmart on the same day that he contacted a woman in violation of a court order, according to court documents.

A man accused of twice violating a protection order also faces criminal charges for stealing two bottles of liquor and throwing them at a police officer who pursued him, police said. He stole the liquor bottles from the O’Fallon Walmart and threw them at the officer on the same day he violated the protection order, according to court documents. Chad McCormick, 39, was charged Jan. 4 with two counts of violating an order of protection, once on Aug. 31 and again on Sept. 26. McCormick also was charged Feb 7 with misdemeanor theft, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest on Sept. 26. Meth-Fueled, High-Speed Chase Goes Through Red Lights in O'Fallon, Police Say

O’Fallon Police said the man drove into oncoming traffic, causing at least one accident and narrowly avoiding head-on collisions.

A St. Louis County man led O’Fallon Police on a meth-fueled, high-speed chase Saturday, starting at Veterans Memorial Parkway at Downing Street and ending about 15 miles away in Lincoln County. Officers said the man ran red lights, drove into oncoming traffic, nearly striking vehicles, and went as much as 50 mph over the speed limit. Jacob Stafford, 19, of the 3000 block of Calvert Avenue in Breckenridge Hills, was charged Monday with resisting arrest, creating a substantial risk of injury or death. Officer Diana Damke, a spokesperson for O’Fallon Police, said the officer tried to pull over Stafford on Veterans Memorial Parkway at Downing Street in O'Fallon because he believed Stafford was driving impaired. Man Charged With Hitting Deputy During Foot Chase

The accused was on probation for tampering with with a car at the time.

A man faces criminal charges after he struck a law enforcement officer during a foot chase in O’Fallon Aug. 24. Brandon D. Brown Jr, 20, of the first block of Newberry Drive in St. Charles County south of St. Peters, was charged Aug. 28 with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. A St. Charles County Sheriff's deputy said in a report that he was chasing Brown on foot near 955 Bryan Road in O’Fallon because Brown had a warrant for his arrest. During the chase, Brown turned and struck the deputy in the chest. The blow caused the deputy to lose his balance, fall and strike his knee on the asphalt, and he nearly was struck by oncoming traffic, the deputy reported. Teen Charged with Burglarizing Home, Stealing Items Worth $3,330

Police said the 18-year-old already was on probation for stealing.

O’Fallon Police said a teenager is responsible for a June 30 burglary on Alviston Court in O’Fallon. Brian Chappel, 18, of the first block of East O’Fallon Drive in O’Fallon, was charged in St. Charles County Circuit Court Wednesday with second-degree burglary, stealing and resisting arrest. Police said Chappel broke into the home by breaking a window, causing $561 in property damage and stole jewelry and electronics valued at about $3,330. He also fled from police in a car and refused to stop, according to the police report. Chappel had been on probation for stealing. Bond was set at $25,000. Man Accused of Punching, Choking, Pulling Girlfriend by Hair

O'Fallon Police said the O'Fallon man called his girlfriend afterwards and threatened to kill her.

An O’Fallon man was charged Sunday with beating, choking and dragging his girlfriend by her hair across a driveway. Anthony Robinson, 27, of the 400 block of Carol Renee Court in O’Fallon, was charged with second-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest. O’Fallon Police responded to a call from a woman Sunday, who told officers she was arguing with her boyfriend, Robinson, who punched her in the forehead, knocking her down. She told police he continued to punch her in the head and upper body, and she fought back to protect herself. A police report said the woman ran outside and got in her car to leave, but Robinson pulled her out and began choking her. She told police she thought she would pass out when he threw her onto the driveway …

Yes, crime stories are distasteful, but burying your head in the sand and pretending evil isn't among us is counterproductive. 'Bath Salt Bandit' Charged With Robbery After Monday's Manhunt

The St. Charles County Sheriff's Department will test the stolen bath salts to see if they contain illegal synthetic drugs.

A man some are calling the “Bath Salt Bandit” was charged Tuesday with robbing the South 94 Bait Tackle & Smoke Shop. St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputies said that Ryan Anderson, 35, of Hawk Point, stole packages marked “Blitz” and “Go Go.” Previously, bath salts sold at the shop had been purported to mimic the effects of cocaine, methamphetamine or ecstasy. Deputies said Anderson grabbed two boxes of bath salt and pushed a store clerk at the shop out of the way. He then fled from deputies, who said he created a substantial risk to others by driving at speeds over 85 mph and weaving through traffic.
