As snow continues to fall Wednesday night, O'Fallon schools announce closings.
The Fort Zumwalt School District and St. Dominic High School have canceled classes for Thursday, Jan. 20 due to inclement weather. Both announced closings on their websites just before 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. Snow began falling in O'Fallon around 7 p.m. on Wednesday and is expected to continue into Thursday afternoon. Forecasts call for three to five inches in O'Fallon on Wednesday, with a chance of one to two more inches on Thursday. According to the National Weather Service's website, a winter storm advisory is in effect for St. Louis and St. Charles County until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Over three inches of snow fell in O'Fallon during Monday's winter storm.
Snow began covering streets in O’Fallon Monday afternoon and continued until early Tuesday morning. According to the National Weather Service, the O’Fallon area received just over three inches of snow during the winter storm. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the St. Charles County area until noon. Snow showers in O'Fallon are expected to continue throughout the day in O'Fallon, with a chance of flurries tonight. The National Weather Service advises drivers to take it slow and be aware that blowing snow will create reduced visibility on roads. O’Fallon Public Works, MoDOT crews advise drivers to take it slow.
Overnight icy rain and freezing temperatures have left slick road conditions in O'Fallon and across the St. Louis area on Thursday morning. Fort Zumwalt School District cancelled classes for the day due to the inclement weather. City Engineer Steve Bender said Public Works has more than 80 percent of O'Fallon's streets treated. "Right now we're chasing down areas that are refreezing," he said. "That was our main focus, getting the salt down." Public Works crews began pre-treating city roads on Wednesday afternoon and had full 34 truck crews out after 10 p.m. Bender said the city's first focus is on arterial streets like Mexico and Bryan Roads, then collector streets like Sonderen and Pitman.
