An O’Fallon man was sentenced to five years in prison for breaking into a home in his neighborhood and attempting to molest a 13-year-old girl. Pedro Chavez, 24, of the 200 block of Casalon Drive in O’Fallon, was sentenced by St. Charles County Circuit Court Judge Dan Pelikan April 16 to five years in prison for first-degree burglary and four years for attempted child molestation. The sentences run concurrently. Chavez tried to molest a 13-year-old girl before he left the house in his neighborhood July 7. The girl’s mother made him leave their apartment, but Chavez waited until the mother left the home, re-entered the home and approached the girl again, O’Fallon Police said. Patrick Walsh was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for the DWI crash that killed two people and injured five in September 2011. Walsh pleaded guilty Nov. 15 to two counts of involuntary manslaughter and five counts of second-degree assault. “Unlike Mr. Brueggen and Mr. McLemore, you will have an opportunity to reclaim your life. Steven Timothy Scott has pleaded guilty to 13 charges in less than two years in St. Charles, O'Fallon, Wentzville and St. Charles County.
A man pleaded guilty Feb 26 to crimes that included: Steven Timothy Scott, 20, of St. Charles, also will serve sentences for damaging businesses and cars in Wentzville and St. Charles County. He had been on probation after pleading guilty to those crimes in 2011. Scott has pleaded guilty to 13 charges in less than two years. The longest sentence is 10 years, and the sentences will be served concurrently. Scott pleaded guilty to second-degree assault, and St. Charles Circuit Court Judge Richard Zerr sentenced him to seven years in prison. While in jail awaiting trial on other charges, Scott and Robert E. Martin II punched and kicked another inmate, elbowing him repeatedly in the face. A third babysitter pleaded guilty to sodomizing children as young as 7 months old in the Tee Kay Mobile Manor area. St. Charles County Sheriff’s investigators said the crimes were the worst cases of child sexual abuse they’d ever seen. John Scott Thomas III, 28, of the first block of Tee Kay in St. Charles County, pleaded guilty Tuesday to eight counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and one count of first-degree statutory rape. As part of the plea, St. Charles County prosecutors agreed to cap Thomas’ sentence at 30 years. The defense can request a suspended sentence or can argue for a lesser sentence. The fire in the 600 block of Castlebrook Drive in O'Fallon started Jan. 31.
An O'Fallon man was sentenced to six years in prison for for setting a fire that destroyed his home on in January 2012, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. O'Fallon Patch previously reported, O'Fallon Police responded to a call about a house fire in the 600 block of Castlebrook Drive at 9:42 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31. No one was inside the home during the fire and no injuries were reported. The O'Fallon and Cottleville fire protection districts and Central County Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
