The commission approved recommendation to the O'Fallon City Council regarding the CUP at the Thursday, Nov. 1 meeting.
An O'Fallon resident is preparing to re-open his bar and grill in a new location in the city. Playoffs Sports Bar and Grill was a restaurant and bar that featured karaoke, pool, dart leagues and live music at 40 Crossroads Plaza for 13 years until closing in July 2012. Playoffs owner Mike Elmore has requested a conditional use permit (CUP) for a new location at 2299 O'Fallon Crossing. The new proposed location is at Highway K and N behind Walgreens, in the same plaza as Clarkson Eye Care and Madison's Cafe. All items collected from now until Sunday, Nov. 18 will be donated to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
Qdoba Mexican Grill is once again hosting "Cans for Queso," a food drive to help support the St. Louis Area Foodbank this Thanksgiving season. The St. Louis Area Foodbank is the Bi-State region’s largest non-profit 501(c)(3) food distribution center dedicated to feeding those in need. From now until Sunday, Nov. 18, customers who bring canned goods or other non-perishable food items to any St. Louis-area Qdoba will receive a free order of 3-Cheese Queso and handmade tortilla chips. All items collected will be donated to the St. Louis Area Foodbank. Frank Finnegan, president and CEO of the St. Louis Area Foodbank said in a news release that in 2011, Qdoba patrons donated 3,399 pounds of food to help fight hunger in the St. Louis area. …

Firehouse Subs is now hiring for the soon-to-open O'Fallon location. The shop is under construction at 104 Laura K Dr., O'Fallon, near Starbucks and the Pediatric Urgent Care. Jon Collins, who owns the shop with his brother, said he expects to open in late November. This is the first Firehouse Subs to open in St. Charles County. According to Craigslist, the shop is now hiring and "looking for smiling faces, outgoing personality's, highly motivated individuals that have a true passion for people." The shop opened in O’Fallon in March 2012 and owners Mary and Tina are gearing up for the holiday season with plenty of special menu items.
As customers walk into Mary’s Morsels, they are greeted by Mary Reynold’s herself. Dressed in her apron and matching bandana, she says good morning to each customer and takes their drink orders. The bakery and café, located at 107 O’Fallon Plaza, opened in O’Fallon in March 2012. They serve a full breakfast and lunch menu. You could say Mary’s Morsels got its beginning’s years ago in the Reynold’s kitchen. That’s where she discovered her love and talent for baking when her children were young. Back then she was a stay at home mom who made Christmas baking trays for family and friends. “For years, everybody was telling me, ‘you need to do this for a living,’” she said.
