Timberland baseball player wins fans choice award for top baseball player in St. Charles County last week.
The voting for the top baseball player from the week of April 9, came down to players. Timberland's Kyle Fletch, fresh off a week where no pitcher could get him out, squared off with Fort Zumwalt South's Drew Quinones. When the voting closed, Fletcher came out on top. The Timberland star racked up 3,068 votes (54 percent) to claim the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week crown. Here are the results: Total votes: 5627 Kyle Fletcher's hot bat helped Timberland pull off a 3-0 week. On April 10, Fletcher was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base in the Wolves 4-3 win over Howell North. Rain may have washed away a few baseball games last week, but some action still managed to take place—and what action it was. All across St. Charles County great players played great games on the baseball field. Some did it better than others. Here are the nominees for the baseball player of the week for the week of April 9: Drew Quinones—Fort Zumwalt South: Fort Zumwalt South's Drew Quinones was a tough guy to retire in the Bulldogs' two games last week. Quinones picked up seven hits in nine at-bats for South—a .778 batting average. In a loss to Holt, Quinones went 2-4 with a run scored. The next day, on Tuesday, against St. Charles West, Quinones helped power the Bulldogs past the Warriors. In a 14-13 South win, Quinones was 5-for-5 …

Kettler scored two goals in Holt's playoff opener, a 5-1 win over Northwest at the Affton Ice Arena. Both of Kettler's two goals came in the third period. Turnovers prove costly to Cougars in loss to Eagles.
The O’Fallon Christian Academy Eagles basketball team’s defense and rebounding certainly created a lot of scoring opportunities in last night’s contest against the Lutheran St. Charles Cougars at Lutheran. The Cougars committed 15 turnovers in the 71-58 loss to Christian while the Eagles committed 10. “In the Fox Tournament, we had two really tough games,” O’Fallon coach Dave Meers said. “We had a lot of defensive intensity. It was the name of the game for us tonight. The thing we really wanted to focus on was man-to-man and cutting off the lane, making them shoot outside. Week 11 of the winter season is here and it brings plenty of rivalry games. February begins this week and that means playoff season is right around the corner. State swimming and state wrestling are just a few short weeks away, but they aren't here yet. Before the playoffs can happen, the regular season has to wind down and that means rivalry games are popping up. This week features city, county and school district matchups. Fort Zumwalt West volleyball picks up 2-1 win to advance in District tourney.
The Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars volleyball team started out its post-season on a high-note with a 2-1 victory over the Fort Zumwalt East Lions in the first round of the Class 4, District 8 Tournament at Fort Zumwalt South High School. The Jaquars improve to 18-12 with the win. The Lions finish the season with a 20-9 mark. “We were just outplayed,” Lion coach Michael Loyd said. “They came out here and took care of business. We had a few players who were off their game. They outplayed us plain and simple. Congratulations to them.” The Lions won the first game 25-22.
