For many people, there's nothing quite so satisfying as finding a great bargain, and the economic downturn has thrift stores popping up all over the county. Duchesne's Abby Smegner wins the Athlete of the Week award after a strong showing at the District track meet.
Duchesne's Abby Smegner had quite the showing at the Class 3, District 4 meet. Smegner paced the field in the 800 with her first-place time of 2:20.8 to win the District title. Her winning ways didn't stop on the track. Smegner was able to take the field in the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week voting. Smegner racked up 38 percent of the votes to win the award. Who had the best showing during District track weekend? Total votes: 26 The Duchesne girls track team thrived in the longer-distance races during Saturday's Class 3, District 4 meet. Track season is winding down and that means the weekends are getting more and more important. On Saturday, May 12, track athletes from all around Missouri gatherered for District meets. Runners, jumpers and throwers all took the track to keep the season going. Some did better than others. So we want to know: What St. Charles County athlete had the best showing during District track weekend? The nominees are: Chase Abbington—Fort Zumwalt South: In the fall, Zumwalt South's Chase Abbington showed he was fast on the football field. This spring he showed he was fast on the track. St. Charles Pirate Ellen Weaver's big week earns her the fan's choice for Athlete of the Week.
It appears the voters in St. Charles County are impressed by offense. Last week St. Charles High School's Ellen Weaver put on an offensive clinic for the Pirates. In two games she potted five goals and tallied two assists on the soccer pitch. It's a pretty big understatement to say that's pretty good. Weaver's impressive week caught the eye, and the votes, around St. Charles County. The Pirate picked up 72 percent of the vote to take home the St. Charles County soccer player of the week award. Another week is in the books and another week of voting begins. The week we take it back to the soccer pitch and put our focus back against on girls soccer. All across St. Charles County, girls put up big numbers on the field. Here are the top four choicea for Patch's fan vote for Athlete of the Week. Natalie Weinhold—Lutheran High School: The Lutheran Cougars picked up a Archdiocesan Athletic Association win on May 3 against rival Bishop DuBourg. Francis Howell Central's Travis Vaught wins the "Patch" Athlete of the Week Award.
Travis Vaught had a big week on the baseball diamond for the Howell Central Spartans last week. He did even better in the Athlete of the Week voting. Vaught trounced the field in the St. Charles County Patch Athlete of the Week poll. Out of the nearly 400 votes cast, Vaught picked up a whopping 96 percent to easily win the award. Here's how the voting went down. Who was the St. Charles County baseball player of the week beginning on April 23? Total votes: 391 -- Vaught did it all last week for the Spartans. Vaught opened the week on April 24 with a stat-filling performance. In Howell Central's 8-3 win, Vaught was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Customer tipped off St. Charles Police regarding possible hidden cameras in March.
A former St. Charles massage therapist was indicted Monday by a St. Charles County grand jury on 14 counts of invasion of privacy. Kirk M. Jackson, 38, of St. Charles, was charged in March with secretly filming women as they undressed before receiving massages. Jackson was ordered to appear in court May 29. A woman told police that she suspected Jackson had hidden cameras in his business, Atlas Massage Therapy at 2368 Old Highway 94 in St. Charles, west of Old Highway 94 and Muegge Road. An undercover St. Charles Police officer went to the business and was instructed to undress in a therapy room. Officers then served a search warrant and found hidden cameras running in the room. The court has barred Jackson from working as a masseuse. For …

Deliver Meals to Seniors Volunteers are needed to deliver meals to O'Fallon seniors. Deliveries start at the O'Fallon Senior Center around 10 a.m. and it takes about an hour to deliver a route. Deliveries take place Monday through Friday. Volunteer as little as one day per week or month. Sign up to help here.
