A trial was set for an O’Fallon man accused of attempting to molest a child in O’Fallon July 7. A jury trial was set for 8:30 a.m. April 22 at the St. Charles County Courthouse for Pedro Chavez, charged with two counts of attempted child molestation and one count of first-degree burglary. O'Fallon Police said Pedro Chavez, 24, O'Fallon, attempted to molest a 13-year-old victim at her home, before leaving. Police say he later re-entered the home and approached the victim again after the child’s mother left for work. Chavez is being held in St. Charles County jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond. Deonta Williamson ended a high-speed chase that began in O'Fallon by ramming a Carutherville police car with a stolen Cadillac Escalade, which killed a police officer.
An O'Fallon man, accused of killing a southeast Missouri police officer, will stand trial in St. Charles, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. According to KSDK, Deonta Williamson, 30, was fleeing police in August 2011 when he slammed a stolen Cadillac Escalade from his parents O'Fallon home into two patrol cars positioned to stop him. Carutherville Officer Evan Burns wasn't able to get out of the patrol car and was killed in the accident. Williamson was granted a move to St. Charles County after a Tuesday hearing before Judge Fred Copeland in Pemiscot County. The family of Williamson said he suffers from mental illness, according to KFVS. But Williamson’s mental exam, KZIM reports, showed competency and his next court date in St. Charles…

St. Peters Municipal Court Judge Donald Kohl ruled Brent Stafford not guilty of trespassing after the March 17 St. Charles County Republican Caucus at Francis Howell North. Kohl approved a motion for acquittal by defense attorney David Roland, of the Freedom Center of Missouri. Roland cross-examined prosecution witnesses, but had not yet presented defense witnesses. “Those in authority can’t trespass unless they are specifically ordered to leave,” Kohl said while giving his ruling. “And then they have to be given an opportunity to leave.” The St. Charles County Republican Central Committee had rented out the building, and Brent Stafford was a committee member.
