Visions For Vacancies

Former Walter Knoll Florist: What Do You Want to See Here?

Each week, we highlight a vacant commercial area and ask: what would you like to see move into this area?

Since this is your community, we want O'Fallon Patch to be a place where you can not only find out what's going on around town, but a place where you can share your thoughts and ideas with your neighbors. Our feature "Visions for Vacancies" aims to help residents take an active role in planning and building their community. So each week, we'll highlight a vacant commercial area and ask: what would you like to see move into this area? If you know of an area you'd like to see highlighted, tell us in the comments. A customer relations employee said this is not an immediate plan, but they will not rule it out for the future. O'Fallon Patch asked its Facebook friends on Friday: What would you rather see close to home? Trader Joe's or Whole Foods? We received 40 comments and here are just a few. Check out more on our Facebook page. Mary Guelker Wilson: "Either! We need one out here!" Rachel Sarino: "Whole Foods will be my 1st choice but will take either one here! I would describe Whole Foods as the Dierbergs of …

O'Fallon is definitely big enough, close enough to other municipalities, which makes us convenient and very desirable for businesses. Not only is there a consumer demand for both (or a nice alternative, even if less well known, option) but it makes good business sense. If WF, and TJ don't want to, or can't for whatever reason, let this be an opportunity for entrepreneurs!   more ›
