An O'Fallon restaurant is beginning the new year with a project to help those in need. The Brass Rail, located at 4601 Highway K, O'Fallon, is looking for local chefs interested in helping to raise money for local organizations, schools, fire departments, police and more. The guest chefs will have their dish featured on The Brass Rail menu and proceeds from the sales will benefit the charity of their choice. "I am looking for is some great local cooks that are in some way tied to some great local and national charities," owner Scott Ellinger said in an email. "I will work with the cooks to get their recipe on our menu for anywhere from a week to a month, and then we will donate a portion of the proceeds to their guest 'chef’s' charity …

The first St. Charles Restaurant Week will kick off Sept. 10 and run through Sept. 16. Thirteen restaurants from across St. Charles County are participating in the event which offers diners a three course meal for $25. The event is being coordinated by R&B Productions, a group that does event production and ran the West County Restaurant Week. “We’ve done the West County Restaurant Week for two years now, we just wrapped it up,” said Hana Firmerman, of R&B Productions. “The event was so successful, we decided to take it to St. Charles County.” Diners can also choose to donate to Oasis Food Pantry as the charity of choice. “We’re keeping it at higher end restaurants and getting people to go directly to the restaurant,” she said.
