O'Fallon Man Assaults Girlfriend Twice in One Month, Sentenced to Six Months

Gyasi Yohance Coles had been on probation for nine days after pleading guilty to assaulting the same woman.

An O’Fallon man assaulted his girlfriend nine days after being placed on probation for assaulting the same woman.

Gyasi Yohance Coles, 19, of the 400 block of Prince David Drive in O’Fallon, pleaded guilty Thursday to a second charge of third-degree domestic assault. He was sentenced to six months in county jail.

Coles previously pleaded guilty to third-degree domestic assault June 6. He was placed on two years probation at that time. However, his probation was revoked when O’Fallon Police said he held down his girlfriend and struck her repeatedly June 17.

Police said the woman suffered a bloody nose, a cut to her lip, and bruising and a scratch on her neck.

Coles also was sentenced to six months in jail for the first count of domestic assault. The charges will be served concurrently.
