Perkins Resigns City Council Seat Effective Dec. 31

City Councilman Mark Perkins resigns his seat on the council after six terms. A temporary replacement until the April city election may be named in January.

O’Fallon Ward 5 City Councilman Mark Perkins announced at Thursday night’s meeting he would resign after serving six terms. 

Perkins’ resignation is effective Dec. 31. He could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon.

A temporary replacement to fill Perkin’s seat until the April city election is expected to be appointed in January by Mayor Bill Hennessy, said Tom Drabelle, communications director for the city.

Hennessy, council President and Ward 4 Councilman Jeff Schwentker along with Ward 5 Councilman Mike Pheney will interview candidates, Drabelle said. The appointment could be made as early as the Jan. 12 regularly schedule council meeting. 

An application along with qualifications are posted on the city’s website at www.ofallon.mo.us. Applications should be sent to City Clerk Pam Clement at the O’Fallon City Hall, 100 North Main St., O’Fallon, MO 63366.

Eligible candidates must be at least age 21, registered voters and resident of their wards for at least a year.
