5 Unique Programs at Renaud Spirit Center

O'Fallon's Renaud Spirit center offers family-friendly programs and classes.

If a change of pace is something you're in search of, the can help. The center offers classes ranging from one to six sessions dealing with everything from cooking to photography. Grab the family and try your hand at something new.

  1. Dive-In Movie: Have you ever considered watching a movie as you float around on an inner tube? Snag a tube and your suit to find out at this family-friendly event where an indoor pool is turned into a one-of-a-kind movie theater. The next movie will be shown from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m Friday, March 18.
  2. Build a Dollhouse: Put together a dollhouse kit with Suzanne from Suzanne’s Dollhouses & Miniatures. This six-week course takes place from 6:30-8 p.m Mondays, beginning April 11. All materials are included in the class price.
  3. Belly Dancing: Learn the art of using your hips in this Middle Eastern-inspired dance class. Basic techniques taught include hip lifts, hip drops, hip circles, figure eights, shimmies, arm movements and traveling steps. A series of six classes will be held from 7:45-8:45 p.m. Thursdays, starting Feb. 24.
  4. The Art of Close Up Photography: Professional photographer Garry Rose will explain how to take an interesting close-up shot of nearly anything in this combination discussion and demonstration class. This six-week course is beneficial for both the inexperienced or expert photographe. The first class, which runs from 7-9 p.m. begins Tuesday, April 12.
  5. Kooking with Kids: Learn the basics in this cooking class made just for kids. Here, little ones will explore the kitchen, learn safety, identify tools and make delicious treats to eat and take home to share. Along the way, kids can pick and choose their favorite recipes to form a cookbook. This six-week course is held from 6- 7 p.m. Thursdays beginning March 31.
